GeForce 8800: Here Comes the DX10 Boom

We have been hearing about DirectX 10 hardware and the miraculous advantages it has over DX9. We have even seen the screenshots of games in development. However, until today, the hardware has been lacking. Earlier today we wanted to whet your appetites for Direct3D (D3D) hardware and Nvidia delivers the goods first. We are pleased to announce the arrival of DirectX 10 compliant hardware in the form of Nvidia's GeForce 8800GTX and 8800GTS.

tru, tru...my 7900GTO is awsome!

bbbbut, as i only found out yesterday, if you check the benchies on that link, this card doesn't get that far ahead of the x1900xtx's or the 7900gtx's...

it's a definate and clear improvment, but not by much...

thing is, it's DX10 hardware, so will provide much better visuals, which will be needed for full enjoyment of crysis (the first dx10 game) and others that will follow...

i'm going to get one, but around next summer...when i get my core 2 duo box...

;)
