Okay I just got my daughter one of those watchadohickeys to download music. I'm all over the net getting ready to subscribe to a music download place. Does anyone here do it and where do you get your music from? Yahoo has a deal if I pay by MC I can buy a whole year unlimited downloads and get the next year free. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Well, alot of people get music free from Limewire, however, the legality is kinda... up in the air.

I'm not a Limewire fan. Only because I can't get the music out of the computer for some reason. I guess that's the way it's ment to be.
Yahoo is unlimited with over a million songs in their database. It's $10 a month and with 5 computers running, lol we should get our moneys worth. At least I'm hoping. Or if anyone else out there has a better idea.
Thanks for your input! :)

Can't get the music out? I'm not sure I follow. You just drag the files from Limewire to the iTunes library folder and drop 'em. Then just delete the file on Limewire if you want.

I use a slightly long method. I rip streaming audio files and convert them into an mp3 file.
It works for me, cos I usually listen to music maybe about once a month.
BitTorrent and Torrents are the way to go.

This site is legal in some countries and illegal in others. Basically, you choose the format and bitrate (quality) and get charged a LOW rate based on the filesize. Typically each album is no more than $3 at good quality.

As for 100% illegal and free, well... I would do a disservice to certain people to disclose some things but I will disclose this since it's already known by authorities and such... http://www.chrismyden.com/articles-ubernet.php
You're on your own from there, it'll take work to get in.
Stay AWAY from open forced-share P2P networks if you are in the U.S or you'll get placed in RIAA's litigation lotto.
