Tanks and choppers have been arriving on the Israeli side of the border for hours. BBC:
"Let it be clear: We will reach everyone, no matter where," Ehud Olmert said in a speech in Jerusalem.
Mr Olmert said he had instructed army chiefs to be ready for "a prolonged and extensive military operation in order to strike the terror organisations and commanders".
He said he held senior officials in the Palestinian Authority including Mr Abbas and Prime Minister Ismail Haniya of Hamas responsible [for captive Cpl. Shalit], with "everything that it implies".

I hope so. The only solution is to wipe out the palestinians completely.

From Jerusalem Post:
Silvan Shalom [a member of the Knesset] blasted Olmert, saying,"The policy we should have taken is what we said before disengagement: That if there will be shooting, the reaction will be painful. There is no difference between Hamas' diplomatic and security wings - They are both deep in terror. I hope the waiting won't make us miss an opportunity.
"I recommended the assassination of Hamas leaders," he said.
Opposition leader Binyamin Netanyahu joined his Likud colleague in criticizing the prime minister during the Committee meeting, saying, "I would not, at all costs, wait for the act because the soldier might never come home. The soldier can be freed. We need an aggressive approach and not the fawning of the government."
"Unfortunately the prime minister hasn't learned anything," said the former prime minister. "A change in direction is needed immediately, such as massive reaction and the toppling of the Hamas government."

The Palestinian street gang which calls itself the Ezzedeen al-Qassam brigades, is demanding the release of all female Palestinian criminals from Israeli prisons, plus everyone under 18, in return for the soldier. Flat rejection by Israel. Hamas "leader" Ismail Haniya is helpless and irrelevant. Abbas has ordered his own useless mob to search for the soldier.

Hopefully Iran stays out of it.
If they know what's best for them, anyway.

I can't believe I am even responding to this, but....
If you believe that wiping out the palistinians will make the world a better place, you fail to understand the actual dynamic of what is going on in the middle east. Think on this. the number one complaint against the US in the arabic culture is the isreali/palistinian problem. It is the souce of sucide bombers, iranian nucular asperations and general hatred of the the US. it is a manipulation of a situation to focus domestic discontent away from the real problems in the middle east. It is why every attempt at peace put forward by the west is defeated. It is not the best interest of the Islamis to have peace between Isreal and Palistine.
If we "wiped out" Palistine, what do you think would happen? Everyone would just go home and say, shucks, nice try? Please read up on and study this critical issue that will haunt all of our days.

For Omega, the Israeli crisis-cabinet heard from the army that Hizbollah is moving some sort of forces down toward the Israel-Lebanon border. But I'm not sure it matters. The Israelis often overestimate the importance of Hizbollah these days. Anyway it'll be a turkey-shoot in the north if they try anything.
I doubt Iran will intervene directly. Ahmedinijad will shoot his mouth off, certainly, as will every other Muslim thug-boss. But I look forward to the extermination of some of this type in Gaza:

As if the Palastinians have aircraft carriers and aegis class warshipsThe idea is to prevent in the import of weapons and to prevent escape by the Palestinian terrorists with their hostage.

Right - stingers, mortars and AK47's can be smuggled aboard any little old fishing boat.
Same thing with WMD's.

I was being sarcastic, however the importation of arms and various other necessities will be imported by other means.

A couple of Qassam rockets have been fired into Israel, by some gang of Palestinian juvenile delinquents; it doesn't matter which gang. To the disappointment of the great freedom fighters, their efforts to kill somebody at random were a failure.

A third Qassam rocket has hit a house, slightly injuring one person with shrapnel.
The soldier's injuries are now thought to be relatively minor: a hand fracture and a shoulder injury of some kind.

Sorry koban, I misunderstood. I thought I was hearing sarcasm about the poor little unarmed Palestinians.
