Seattle-Area Website for Girls Club Hacked by Angry Muslims (http://counterterror.typepad.com/the_counterterrorism_blog/2006/02/seattlearea_web.html)
Last night I received this e-mail from a knowledgeable CT Blog fan in the Seattle area:
The Muslim Web Hackivists have reached Seattle, attacking (of all things) a girls' scooter club. (Editor's Note: be prepared for a sound file in Arabic, and maybe someone can send me a translation before they take it down.)
More disturbing is the reaction (or complete lack of it) to this and many other web attacks. The Seattle office of the FBI was contacted -- the website owners were shunted to voice mail and their calls never returned. The web hosting company, Drizzle (yes, my own email host), could not be reached by telephone, email or emergency pager.
One TV station, KING-TV, has featured the web hack on its 10pm news. Its reporters also could reach neither the FBI or Drizzle management. Nothing quite like broadcasting to the entire (Muslim) world that US law enforcement is completely unresponsive to an Islamist web hack on Sundays.
The list of Islamist web hacks worldwide since the Cartoons hit the fan is now into the tens of thousands. There is no coordinated response from law enforcement. In fact, there seems to be a complete lack of appreciation to the gravity of the matter. These are not just hacks for their own sake, these are probing attacks similar to skirmishing in conventional warfare.
Robert Mueller and Michael Chertoff should read the whole thing ...
